Nizamabad is Telangana's turmeric capital and home to the National Turmeric Board. Its fingers come mainly from Duggirala Red, known locally as Erra Guntur, which makes up over 80% of the district's crop and is valued for its yield, colour and dry recovery. Armoor turmeric, the traditional Nizamabad type, had its GI application filed in 2025 and accepted by the GI Registry in September 2025; registration is pending.
Geodhara International sources Nizamabad fingers through our supplier network across Nizamabad, Jagtial and Nirmal. Lots are boiled, sun dried and drum polished, graded to AGMARK standards and tested per lot for curcumin, moisture and food safety, polished or unpolished to your specification.
Our target markets include Bangladesh, the UAE, Morocco, Malaysia, and the USA. For spice grinders, curcumin and oleoresin extractors, food manufacturers, and importers there, we offer consistent bulk supply, competitive pricing, and full export documentation.

FAQs
Mostly Duggirala Red, known locally as Erra Guntur, which accounts for over 80% of the turmeric grown in Nizamabad district. Farmers favour it for its yield, colour and dry recovery, and in a 2023 trial at Telangana's horticultural university it gave 21.4% dry recovery and 3.43% curcumin. Higher-curcumin cultivars grown in Telangana, such as Salem (a variety named after the Tamil Nadu district) and IISR Pragati, can be supplied on request.
In Telangana's northern belt: Nizamabad, Jagtial, Nirmal, Warangal and Mahabubabad districts. Telangana grew 97,519 tonnes of dry turmeric in 2024-25 by the Spices Board's final estimates, and Nizamabad, home to the National Turmeric Board and the Turmeric Research Station at Kammarpally, is its main trading centre.
Turmeric is harvested from January to March, boiled within a few days and sun dried for 10 to 15 days, so new crop reaches the Nizamabad market from about February. Early arrivals often carry more moisture than the 12% limit, so we check moisture on every lot before it is packed. Dried fingers store well, and we supply year round.
We offer 25 kg and 50 kg new jute or PP bags and cartons, with custom private-label packaging to suit your market requirements.
We provide complete export documentation including phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, fumigation certificate where the destination requires it, NABL lab test reports, and shipping documents. Geodhara International is registered with the Spices Board of India as a spice exporter.
